Camila: Hello everybody, and welcome Bruno to talk about Marvel and Loki
Bruno: It’s Bruno here. It’s a pleasure to be with you Camila
Camila: Nice. Today we’re talking about the Loki show and the new storyline for maybe next Marvel movies, and I want to talk a little bit about the first season of Loki. So what was it about the first season of Loki, Bruno?
Bruno: Yeah, the first season was amazing. I think it was a kind of preparation for new fans that are arriving now, because in the beginning of the Marvel Universe we had, like, a big preparation for thanos. That was the big villain of that moment. And each movie we had a glimpse of thanos showing and appearing, maybe sitting on a chair and then saying something, looking for the infinite stones. And then now we need another villain, and the idea is to bring this villain slowly again, but in a place that people would pay a little more to see this coming, right? So I think that was the first idea to build the series, with a character that everybody loves, that is Loki and at the same time bring a new villain to this new universe that is coming right now after Avengers End Game.
Camila: Every character of the Marvel Universe they become so interesting because of the character and the actor. Together they make like a good match, like the Ant Man. Oh my God, I love Paul Rudd. I just feel that there ain’t nobody else that could play the Ant Man like Paul does. So the first season they talk about the timeline, right? How you can’t mess up with the timeline, and then they discover that it’s maybe just a fake story, that it’s not true, and they’re actually playing with people’s free will of coming and going, and actually, at the end of the first season, something really interesting happens, right?
Bruno: At the end of the first season, we can see that the timeline that we follow like the main timeline will be destroyed, not really destroyed, it will be changed because Sylvie, that is one of the main characters, but that, by the way, is also loved by the fans. She is responsible for bringing many other, like, infinite timelines to the Marvel Universe, and it’s amazing because with this action it justifies the appearance of the multiverse. That is the new stage, that the universe now is living, that we have, like, Doctor Strange, that we have the new Ant Man movie that you mentioned Ant Man right now. So in the second season they have a big challenge, what will they do with it? Because now it’s influencing the entire universe, universes in plural, let’s put this way. And at the same time, they need to focus on characters that people are expecting to see a little more, like Sylvie, that is one of them. So I think the challenge is to follow these characters and at the same time, like, to step into Marvel Universe and return. I think that’s the main challenge of this season
Camila: And actually I didn’t know that, but they bring a lot of Lokis, different versions of Lokis in the first season, which for me is very nice because, like, many conniving sons of a bitches Lokis in this first season it’s so funny to watch and it’s a fresh thing to watch too, because, I mean, Marvel it has a balance of, like, the hero and everybody loves the hero, but Loki, everybody loves Loki, like we mentioned this in the beginning of the podcast and he’s not a hero. He’s the opposite of the hero, he’s the villain.
Bruno: Yeah, there’s even an alligator Loki, that is amazing. And it’s so funny because we have this in the comic books, I read the comics too. But to see this on TV was very interesting and brave of them to put all these characters together. Something interesting that you said about bringing these different Lokis is that when you have them on screen, you open a lot of possibilities, for example, another challenge that is happening in season 2 is because of the actor that plays the main villain now. He had personal problems in his life, and now that we have this possibility, they can even recast him if it’s necessary, because we have, like, this possibility of having variants of the same character. So it’s really cool for the Marvel universe too, because you can recast actors and actresses the way you want, so it’s a kind of cheap and easy way to replace actors and actresses in the future, at least is what we expect to see, because actors grow old and the Marvel Universe is all connected. And you want to see, like, OK, today I see Captain America and I want to see Captain America too, probably with the same actor, but come on we have more than 30 Marvel movies now and people are getting older, so they need to change everything, and the new Avengers are coming, it’s another thing that we can see over the horizon.
Camila: it was such a thrill to be in the movies and people were, like, exciting and you know yelling and screaming when all these other Avengers came to help with Doctor Strange, it was very nice
Bruno: When Captain America says Avengers Assemble, oh my God, I was crazy with everybody
Camila: Yeah, chills, I have got chills now, my god, I loved it. I love it.
Bruno: Me too, me too.
Camila: Nice, well, let’s hope for the best and hope that if there are other villains, new villains that they can bring the spirit of Marvel Universe, because it’s one-of-a-kind, right?
Bruno: Yes, it is. I’m hoping for the best as well and I really believe that even if they have to recast Kang, the Conqueror, that is the new villain now, I think it will work. It’s a matter of just putting the right things in the right places, and Marvel Universe will continue, and I’ll be there, I’ll be there in the movie theaters watching, and I think you will be too, right?

Então, acredito que essa tenha sido a primeira ideia para construir a série, com um personagem que todos amam, que é o Loki, e ao mesmo tempo introduzir um novo vilão nesse novo universo que está surgindo após Vingadores: Ultimato.
Camila: Cada personagem do Universo Marvel se torna tão interessante por causa do personagem e do ator. Juntos, eles fazem uma ótima combinação, como o Homem-Formiga. Meu Deus, eu amo o Paul Rudd. Sinto que não há ninguém mais que poderia interpretar o Homem-Formiga como o Paul faz. Na primeira temporada, eles falam sobre a linha do tempo, certo? Como você não pode bagunçar com a linha do tempo, e depois descobrem que isso talvez seja apenas uma história falsa, que não é verdade, e que na verdade estão brincando com o livre arbítrio das pessoas de ir e vir, e, na verdade, no final da primeira temporada, algo muito interessante acontece, não é?

Algo interessante que você mencionou sobre trazer esses diferentes Lokis é que, quando você os tem na tela, abre muitas possibilidades. Por exemplo, outro desafio que ocorre na segunda temporada é por causa do ator que interpreta o principal vilão agora. Ele teve problemas pessoais em sua vida e agora, com essa possibilidade, eles podem até substituí-lo se for necessário, porque temos essa possibilidade de ter variantes do mesmo personagem. Portanto, é realmente legal para o Universo Marvel, porque você pode substituir atores e atrizes da maneira que desejar, é uma forma barata e fácil de substituir atores e atrizes no futuro, pelo menos é o que esperamos ver, porque os atores envelhecem e o Universo Marvel está todo conectado. Bruno: Quando o Capitão América diz “Vingadores, Avante”, Meu Deus, eu estava louco com todo mundo.

Camila: Legal, bem, vamos torcer pelo melhor e esperar que, se houver outros vilões, novos vilões, eles possam trazer o espírito do Universo Marvel, porque é único, não é?
Bruno: Sim, é. Também estou torcendo pelo melhor e acredito que, mesmo que tenham que substituir Kang, o Conquistador, que é o novo vilão agora, acho que funcionará. É uma questão de colocar as coisas certas nos lugares certos, e o Universo Marvel continuará, e estarei lá, estarei nos cinemas assistindo, e acho que você também, não é?
