Quando aprendendo uma nova língua é importante se familiarizar com o maior espectro de variedade da língua possível. Uma das formas mais produtivas de se familiarizar com esse idioma seria através de filmes e séries, portanto eu compilei uma lista de séries que focam em sotaques de fora dos EUA.
- Derry Girls
Essa série foca na Irlanda do Norte durante os anos 90 e suas falas muito claramente refletem isso. Ela foca muito claramente nos problemas sociais e políticos naquela parte do Reino Unido na época com um viés de comédia.
- Outlander
Com a primeira temporada acontecendo firmemente na Escócia do século 18 e com uma variedade de personagens escoceses, aqueles que não são familiarizados com esse sotaque com certeza vão precisar de legenda. Temporadas seguintes (SPOILER) acontecem em outros países, mas mesmo assim você vai conseguir praticar o seu inglês britânico devido à personagem Inglesa Claire.
- Offspring
Essa comédia australiana contemporânea tem humor leve misturado com drama médico e muitos elementos de fantasia escapista no cenário de Melbourne então você consegue ter a sua dose semanal de sotaques australianos.
- Anne with an E
Essa série comovente e cativante que acontece no Canadá é baseada no livro “Anne of Green Gables” que tem sido um queridinho dos falantes de Inglês há muito tempo e já inspirou várias outras adaptações que também poderiam ter aparecido nessa lista.

When learning a new language it is important to familiarize yourself with the widest possible spectrum of that language’s variety. One of the most productive ways to familiarize yourself with said language would be by movies and tv shows, so I have compiled a list of shows that focus on accents from outside the USA.
- Derry Girls
This one focuses on Northern Ireland during the 90s and their speech very clearly reflects that. This show has a very close focus on political and social issues in that part of the UK at the time with a comedy twist.
- Outlander
With the first season firmly set in 18th century Scotland with a variety of Scottish characters, those not familiar with this accent are sure to need subtitles. Later seasons (SPOILER) do move to other countries but even then you’ll get to practice your British English due to the English main character Claire.
- Offspring
This contemporary Australian comedy has light hearted humor mixed in with medical drama and plenty of escapist fantastical elements set to the backdrop of Melbourne so you can get your weekly dose of Australian accents.
- Anne with an E
This heartwarming and captivating show is set in Canada and is based on the Canadian novel “Anne of Green Gables” that has been beloved by English speakers for a very long time and has inspired many other adaptations that could also have featured on this list.
