Bianca: Hello, I’m good and how about you?
Camila: I’m good. So, Bianca, here in Brazil it is summertime, and summertime means summer vacation. Do you have any plans for your summer vacation, or what do you usually do in your summer vacation?
Bianca: This specific summer I don’t have any plans actually… I have a few friends, and they have, like, beach houses but I still didn’t make any plans with them. I usually don’t go to the beach actually, because of the traffic. I like going to the beach but I just don’t like to spend hours in the traffic.
Camila: And it all depends also on the beach you are going to, right?
Bianca: Yeah, like, I live in Curitiba and the beach that I usually go to is Guaratuba, but a lot of people that live here have beach houses there, so usually there’s a lot of traffic and the road only has one lane for each side, so when you go there, you spend like, three hours and when you don’t have traffic it would be like forty minutes.
Camila: Yeah, the traffic plays a big role in summer vacation.
Bianca: Especially on Christmas and New Year’s. I feel like, in January it’s a little bit better, in December you have a lot of traffic and then in January it’s already better. So that’s usually when I go to enjoy the beach.
Camila: Since here in Brazil it’s so cultural for us to go to the beach during this time, there are people that visit their relatives or plan a trip together with their relatives to go to the beach, and then spend the holidays living there. And there’s the other group of people that go to the beach after the holiday season. It’s nice to go to the beach in the summertime in Brazil, right?
Bianca: Yeah, like, the mood, the vibes of the beach is different. When I was a child I didn’t like going to the beach that much, because I usually would go just to spend the day and then come back, I didn’t get to enjoy it much. But then I started going to friends’ houses and spend, like, weeks there, then I really started to enjoy, like, the experience of the beach, because I don’t think going to the beach it’s just going there and lying on the sand, then diving in the water. I think the whole community that you have there, the stores, the food, the music, and you go to the streets and there’s a lot of people there and everyone is excited and listening to music and dancing, and it’s like that for the whole summer.
Camila: And especially during summertime we get a little bit too excited about the summer and Brazil has beautiful beaches, so… we should get excited when it’s summertime, because our country is a really beautiful country.
Bianca: Yeah, and it has amazing foods. You go to the beach and you eat, like, ice cream, drink coconut water and you eat açaí, it’s just amazing.
Camila: What was the best beach that you ever visited here in Brazil?
Bianca: I think it was the one in Maceió, with the colorful sands. I went there when I was really small, but I remember it a lot, very vividly because I remember seeing the sand was red and brown and white, and we went there with a tour guide. I think I was, like, five years old. I remember him picking up the sand and, like, showing us how to use it to make paint and use to make art inside the bottle with the sand and I think it was the most beautiful beach I’ve ever visited.
Camila: The most beautiful one I ever visited was Ubatuba, in São Paulo. And for me it was just like wow. I didn’t know São Paulo had such a beautiful beach, I was shocked and I was gladly shocked.
Bianca: I think, like, it’s amazing that every beach is similar but they are also kind of different, it depends on the size, or maybe the width of the sand. Sometimes you have beaches that have tons of sand and sometimes beaches that’s, like, just a lane.
Camila: Yeah, Brazil is beautiful, and the beaches are amazing. Thank you for sharing Bianca.

Bianca: Olá, estou bem e você?
Camila: Eu estou bem. Então, Bianca, aqui no Brasil é verão, e verão significa férias de verão. Você tem algum plano para suas férias de verão, ou o que costuma fazer em suas férias de verão?
Bianca: Neste verão específico eu não tenho planos na verdade… Tenho alguns amigos, e eles têm, tipo, casas de praia, mas ainda não fiz nenhum plano com eles. Normalmente não vou à praia na verdade, por causa do trânsito. Eu gosto de ir à praia, mas eu só não gosto de passar horas no trânsito.
Camila: E tudo depende também da praia para onde você vai, certo?
Bianca: Sim, tipo, eu moro em Curitiba e a praia para onde costumo ir é Guaratuba, mas muitas pessoas que moram aqui têm casas de praia lá, então geralmente há muito trânsito e a estrada só tem uma faixa para cada lado, então quando você vai lá, você passa umas três horas, e quando não tem trânsito seria uns quarenta minutos.
Camila: Sim, o trânsito tem um grande papel nas férias de verão.
Bianca: Especialmente nas férias de Natal e Ano Novo. Sinto que, em janeiro é um pouco melhor, em dezembro você tem muito trânsito e depois em janeiro já está melhor. Então é normalmente quando eu vou para aproveitar a praia.
Camila: Como aqui no Brasil é tão cultural para nós ir à praia durante esta época, há pessoas que visitam seus parentes ou planejam uma viagem junto com seus parentes para ir à praia, e passam a época de férias lá. E há o outro grupo de pessoas que vão à praia após a época das festas. É bom ir à praia no verão no Brasil, né?
Bianca: Sim, tipo, o clima, a vibe da praia é diferente. Quando eu era criança eu não gostava muito de ir à praia, porque normalmente eu ia só para passar o dia e depois voltava, eu não conseguia aproveitar muito. Mas depois comecei a ir à casa de amigos e passar, tipo, semanas lá, depois comecei a aproveitar, tipo, a experiência da praia, porque não acho que ir à praia é só ir lá e deitar na areia, depois mergulhar na água. Eu acho que toda a comunidade que você tem lá, as lojas, a comida, a música, e você vai para as ruas e há muita gente lá e todos estão animados e ouvindo música e dançando, e é assim durante todo o verão.
Camila: E especialmente durante o verão ficamos um pouco animados demais com o verão e o Brasil tem praias lindas, então… devemos ficar animados quando é verão, porque nosso país é um país realmente lindo.
Bianca: Sim, e tem comidas incríveis. Você vai para a praia e come, tipo, sorvete, bebe água de coco e come açaí, é simplesmente incrível.
Camila: Qual foi a melhor praia que você já visitou aqui no Brasil?
Bianca: Eu acho que foi a de Maceió, com as areias coloridas. Eu fui lá quando era realmente pequena, mas me lembro muito, muito vividamente porque me lembro de ver que a areia era vermelha, marrom e branca, e fomos lá com um guia turístico. Acho que eu tinha uns cinco anos de idade. Lembro-me dele pegando a areia e, tipo, nos mostrando como usá-la para fazer tinta e usar para fazer arte dentro da garrafa com a areia e acho que foi a praia mais bonita que já visitei.
Camila: A mais bela que já visitei foi Ubatuba, em São Paulo. E para mim foi como se fosse uau. Eu não sabia que São Paulo tinha uma praia tão linda, fiquei chocada e felizmente chocada.
Bianca: Acho incrível que cada praia seja parecida, mas também é meio diferente, depende do tamanho, ou talvez da largura da areia. Às vezes você tem praias que têm toneladas de areia e às vezes praias que têm, tipo, apenas uma faixa.
